Why I Attended the World Happiness Summit in 2025
I attended the World Happiness Summit because I had started working for a company in the wellbeing space. My CEO reached out to a few friends to see if anyone had an extra ticket available, and fortunately, a friend in San Diego who was unable to attend offered me theirs, which allowed me to go to SLS South Beach Hotel in Miami, Florida.
Key Takeaways and Memorable Moments
The entire experience was memorable for me. It was inspiring to be surrounded by people who are genuinely trying to approach life in a more positive and meaningful way. My favorite part was the networking breaks, where I had the opportunity to connect with people from very different backgrounds, including executives, university professionals, students, and more.
One of the most memorable moments for me was meeting the CEO of Happy Coffee, Craig Debitsky. He was kind, humble, and present throughout the conference, taking time to speak with attendees while sharing Happy Coffee products. I had a short convo with him outside the conference room. The session was too long, needed to have a break. It turns out I wasn’t the only one. I asked Craig what gave him confidence to compete in such a competitive space, and he replied that he knew many distribution channels, which made it easier for him to place his product in well-known stores. His answer made complete sense and stayed with me. Small moments, big lessons.
We were also shown a video of Lord Richard Layard, in which he spoke about trust. He explained that in the Nordic countries, around 70% of people say that most people can be trusted, while in the U.S. the figure is about 33%, which says a lot about the differences in happiness across countries.
How the Experience Inspired Me
The experience inspired me in many ways. For example, one thing I learned at the summit was to send a silent good wish to at least 20 people a day. I can’t manage 20 every day, but I can do 5 to 10, and it does make me feel better. Even when I’m not doing something physical or taking action, sending a good wish is another way to create that positive feeling.
A Big Thanks To
