The Ghost That Needed G.O.S.T.
I wanted to have a little fun with one of the most fundamental concepts in strategic planning: the G.O.S.T. framework. I created this illustration in Affinity Designer as a humorous take on strategic planning: a ghost reaching for a bottle of “G.O.S.T. Booster,” a fictional medicine inspired by the G.O.S.T. framework: Goals, Objectives, Strategies, and Tactics.
The joke is that the ghost believes drinking the “G.O.S.T. Booster” will turn him into a human because, once he has goals, objectives, strategies, and tactics, he’ll finally have purpose and direction.
In reality, the ghost represents an unfinished business plan—one with ideas but without a clear framework to bring them to life. The “booster” symbolizes the structure that transforms those ideas into an actionable strategy. Although playful, the concept reflects a serious truth: successful business plans are not built on ideas alone. They become meaningful when clear goals, measurable objectives, coherent strategies, and practical tactics work together as a complete framework. Without G.O.S.T., even the most polished document remains little more than a ghost of what it could be.
Designing this cover was just as enjoyable as developing the idea behind it. From the original concept to the final illustration in Affinity Designer, every element was created by me. It was a fun opportunity to combine creativity with one of the most important frameworks in business planning.
