Napa and Sonoma Wine Country: A 2-Day Trip
Summary
This trip came together fast. A friend who was originally supposed to write about these places ended up inviting me, and before I knew it, I was on my way to Napa. Two days, two nights, split between Napa and Sonoma, no real time to prepare. I landed and went straight into it.

Trinitas Cellars at the Meritage Resort, Straight Off the Plane
I wanted to get to my room first and clean up, but we were already running a little late, so I walked straight into a wine tasting in my airplane outfit with my hair a mess. Somehow it worked out fine. The place was quiet, and the staff were genuinely friendly. We tried a handful of different wines with dark chocolate and a charcuterie plate, and I enjoyed all of it. For a tasting room tucked inside a hotel, it exceeded what I expected. By the end, we were talking loudly and laughing about nothing in particular, feeling good, so we decided it was time for us to head back to get ready for dinner.
Dinner at Olive & Hay and a Wine Called Frog Prince
Olive & Hay was packed by the time we got there. Our table wasn’t in a spot I loved, and the food landed around a 7/10 for me, but the night was still a good one. The highlight was when they brought us a wine called Frog Prince to taste. It was genuinely tasty, one of those small moments in a meal that ends up being what you remember most. The Frog Prince!
The Vineyard Trail at Meritage Resort
The next morning I wanted to move a little after a day of drinking and eating, and it turned out the resort had its own small vineyard trail. I wasn’t expecting a trail like that inside a hotel property, and I liked it more than I thought I would. Easy way to reset before heading into Sonoma.
Ram's Gate Winery in Sonoma
Ram’s Gate is on a different level. The feeling there is different from Napa, more open, more beautiful, CLASSY. The food was excellent, the atmosphere was excellent, the wine was excellent. Every part of it worked. If you’re doing this trip, don’t skip this spot.
